There’s plenty of rare earth elements around the world. More advanced countries don’t bother with them because of environmental concerns combined with their NIMBY sentiments and would rather farm that mining out to third-world countries or countries that don’t care about their citizens’ NIMBY/Env feelings.

But now you’ve got to factor in the energy used to create the battery.

These tests are really just revenue streams that don’t reduce pollution. They just give the state an incomplete estimate of how much emissions are being created by commuter vehicles.

I love the irony that many of the same people saying “the planet is overpopulated and we’re killing the Earth” are also saying “seat belts save lives and wearing them should be mandatory.”
