Very cool - thanks for sharing. My Dad used to bring home the unclassified versions of his rocket sled tests. He’s been retired for 15 years now, but he used sleds at both China Lake, in the California desert, and at White Sands. He wasn’t working on hypersonic - I think his missiles traveled about Mach 5 - but those

I am happy to not have a car with the lane-keeping-assist feature installed and if I got a car that had it, I would turn it off. Often on the highway, especially in heavy traffic, while everyone pulls to the left side of the lane to try to see better, I drive on the right side of the lane and have a great view even

Don’t worry, the glitz and glam will end eventually, There was a trend in the late 90s to just cover every bit of a Harley-Davidson with chrome and, while chrome is still common, the excessiveness of it has been toned down a little bit. What killed it was the black-out look. Suddenly customers were going for matte

I didn’t say there was no weight to be saved, but it is essentially semantics when phrased the way it was in the article. It doesn’t sound great when you say that your Fit only takes 1.3 tons to transport 80kg of people.

Wow. Interesting stuff. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I’m not sure that “getting rid of SUVs” is the right target. Yes, it might seem silly to have such heavy vehicles to transport light people, but with the crash structures and safety equipment that needs to be used, there’s only so much weight to be saved. I think the target should be soley on sustainability. Reduce

Totally just curious as to how you assess that SUVs are more deadly to pedestrians and cyclists? Are the people more likely to end up under the vehicle?

Agreed as well. I watched the steering input of Vettel and came to the same conclusion that the stewards did. Vettel is just mad because he didn’t get away with it.

Hamilton had a call like this go against him in 2008. Vettel is not poster-boy for obeying the rules either - disobeying team orders and running into Hamilton behind the safety car in Baku last year to cite a couple. Both these drivers are very shrewed players, but Hamilton has the better car right now. Also, I think

Seriously - NOBODY is allowed to give you grief over buying the car you really really want! I don’t care if you’re into stock Miatas, stance, track, donk, or whatever - as long as you care about what you drive.

This is article is some of the best stuff I’ve read in a while. Especially Ballaban’s comments!

Sounds like in a generation, Norway will be the Wakanda of Europe.

He’s technically right, but his demonstrations are terrible. The natural way of walking is mid-foot or ball-of-the-foot touching the ground first, but only as a result of a shorter stride. Same is true of natural running. Reaching your foot out in front and landing ball-of-the-foot first is decidedly unnatural and

Some searching revealed this stroller was made by Silver Cross - and most of their strollers aren’t insanely expensive. Appears this one has a $1250-$1500 dollar markup just for the Land Rover name.

Totally agree. My wife and I balked at the idea of spending on a stroller and it cost us - because we had to change strollers later when we had a second kid and needed to be able to push two around. If you want to be able to convert between one kid and two and you want the stroller to roll nicely (yes, that really is

Just be sure to buy any brand OTHER than the actual GRID roller, because the GRID roller company, TriggerPoint, is run by fundamentalist Christians.

This is great informational reporting. I love the work you guys at Foxtrot Alpha are doing to write in-depth on current issues. Unlike some of the uninformed and inflammatory comments I see highly promoted on this thread, I didn’t see a shred of bias here. Simple, plain, reporting on facts. Thanks!

The Model X isn’t selling well becuase it doesn’t look good. I know that it’s probably very aero efficient, but companies are making really sexy SUVs now. The new Mazdas and Volvos look incredible. Put that against a $90K+ SUV that looks more like a minivan and that could be a hard sell unless you were Tesla faithful.

What a perfect article. The funny thing is, I have very fond memories of the Mercury Topaz. My Dad owned two of them - I think an 1984 sedan in grey that was then traded for a 1990 in white. The sad part is that the 1984 Topaz replaced an Audi...4000? A coupe. I distinctly remember sitting in the back of the Audi

I wonder if this owner is one of those handpicked few that Ferrari thought worthy to own their car or if he bought it second hand.
