Really? It doesn’t really feel that good to me that his support for Kesha includes a swipe at another woman. Or is there a specific backstory between Kesha and Taylor I'm not familiar with?

Right but let’s pretend we believe him... Why hold someone who is accusing you of rape to a 7 record contract?

So what if Dr. Luke released her from the contract? Does he require the income to feed his children? Or can I interpret his refusal to do so as further evidence that he is a controlling asshole?

But that’s also from an era when women probably didn’t sign contracts. Like the founders who enshrined “innocent until proven guilty,” which I generally find to be a righteous notion, clearly didn’t consider that means rape victims are assumed to be liars.

The lesson: never underestimate the power of sexism to discredit a candidate’s legitimacy.

Yes. I'm taking that back. But I think it was a legit reason to support Obama. It was among mine.

I think the issue is I'm too old to remember. But I take correction on that point.

I didn’t actually think that’s his reasoning for running. It was just some snark to point out he’s been ineffective in his current role. I wonder if his goal was just to push Clinton left (which is laudable) and didn't anticipate this success.

But how is Sanders any less of the disingenuous panderer than you think Clinton is if of course there won't be a revolution?

Right. And Sanders is going to lead a political revolution with a legislative minority and having won the public the support of virtually none of the legislators in his own party despite having served in Congress for 25 years.

Ok. I definitely am willing to take correction on that point. But my bigger point is that it was a reasonable reason to support him.

I am aware of those polls. The Republicans haven’t ripped him to shreds yet. I think most people don’t pay close attention to primary contests and they have no idea what Sanders believes. I have no faith that general election voters will give a Socialist agnostic Jew the time of day.

So as a Jewish person I’m not quite so moved by that piece of his identity given his reluctance to claim it (he recently described himself as the son of Polish immigrants). But I don’t begrudge someone else who is moved by that line of reasoning. And the socialist bit certainly would be historical but I think it lacks

It definitely might have been part of the dialogue and I'm happy to stand corrected. But I think it is legitimate reason to have supported him. It was one of my reasons!

Dear Bernie, No one said you said that. But thanks for creating a straw-woman to nourish the sexist sub-population of your supporters.

I have to give the side eye to Bernie’s goals as he would be better at achieving them if he tried to position himself to be Senate Majority Leader (and worked to get the Senate back) as they are about the legislative process, not the Executive Branch.

Exactly! I can have multiple categories of qualities I seek out in a candidate and it is OK that one of them is gender and it doesn’t mean that I am sacrificing all of my other values. I have had too many Sanders supporters in newsfeed make remarks about how Clinton supporters who care about voting for a women are

I’m supporting Clinton because I think she’ll be a better general election candidate than Sanders and I think she’ll be a better president too. However I am also supporting her because she’s a woman. And everytime I see any sort of criticism of that line of thinking it just reinforces my belief that we have to

And I assume there will be investigations and arrests in line for all the other officers and administrators who stonewalled and stymied the women who complained. Right?
