you never hit that goal though. i am thankfully recovered from anorexia, but when i was deep in it, every time i hit my goal, i would just move it lower. i was getting into double digits (at 5'6) and still kept moving it  downwards. inpatient treatment was the only thing that worked for me, and will likely be the only

I can totally relate to your 8 a.m. class. I’ve been in so many classes, and now department meetings, like that. Once I taught an 8 a.m. class that had a distinct odor problem that I had to address with a stern talk about how we all needed to wear deodorant and take a shower before class (either the night before or in

Yep, it’s from Jeremiah Johnson, which came out in the 70s I think. I didn’t know that until about a year or so ago, when I turned up at my parents’ house and my dad was watching it on TCM or some such. I’d always just thought it was from something contemporary made to look like it was from the 70s. We got to that

No it’s not. If you accuse me of something, I’m going to sincerely defend myself. Anyone would. But when you label defending myself as “talking back” then I can’t win.

And you felt it was necessary to derail a post about children not given the dignity of being treated like soft, vulnerable children to say that sometimes, some people are loud? Dude.

I’ve seen plenty of white people get just as loud and verbally abusive over petty shit like that, and when I worked as a cashier in a diverse New England city, my nastiest, screaming customers were middle aged/elderly white people between the ages of 40-70. Your comment here as well a your obvious motive for making it

I have rebutted “Can’t Black people just stop thinking about racism?” with “I’d love to, but white people make that impossible” more than once. It gets a “[gulp]” reaction from white people.

It’s a convenient narrative to paint black girls as villains in white people’s fairy tales.

Its that old maxim...”If you think youre tired of hearing about racism, think about how tired we are of dealing with racism”....I pray for my black daughter daily

No. Talking back suggests willful impertinence whereas getting your point across is about trying to come to a place of mutual understanding. In my experience, the latter is only viewed as the former by those with large and/or brittle egos.

Or just makes you a racist.

Sad that this is still the case after all the progress we think we have made. I know in the craft beer community many female brewers were not taken seriously and had a tough time getting jobs. It is great that their are now groups like this one that work hard to change this perception:

As weird as this is, the weirdest part is that “less human” means “more sexually available.”

Unless it’s an adorable little coloured orphan from an impoverished developing country that they can use an accessory for virtue signalling.

Lets also take into account that most people that adopt want white babies and that she isn’t.

I see Jamil’s replies are filled almost exclusively with the usual WASP Evangelical GOP Pro-Restriction crowd with the usual hand-wringing claims that “The Child” could’ve gone to the home of a sweet adoptive couple like those who can’t have children.

First of all, Harriot, Thousand Island is AT LEAST Mayo, ketchup AND PICKLE RELISH. Ideally, it should also have chopped egg, but since my grandma died, that’s rarely seen.

You have no idea...I have a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Physics. The Ph.D. in Physics she’s working on requires intelligence, talent, and hard work beyond what most people can imagine.

So proud of her!!! So smart and beautiful!

Even the sandwich threw up at the thought of itself...
