Yes, VERY. Almost every one of my friends have had cesareans. If the national c-section rate is 30-33% the rate among my friends is 75-80% Most have had multiples at this point, I’m having my first at 35. My good friend had an emergency c-section at 27 weeks because of HELLP syndrome and pre-eclampsia, she did the

Wow, thanks for the supportive comment. I’m not getting many. I have also hired a doula and midwives are the first order of action in my OB/GYN office and they only bring in doctors when surgery is needed. I am delivering in a new hospital with large private birthing rooms that include jacuzzi tubs which are supposed

Excuse me? How am I shaming anyone but telling them what I want. I can’t help someone else’s guilt. Its not acceptable to say that anyone who makes a different choice than you is shaming you.

I fired off a response on the internet in between meetings and didn’t get the right number. I corrected myself in other comments but I can’t edit the original response. Its still much higher than recommended in the US.

Well according to the comments here, that thought is definitely the minority because apparently I’m a monster for wanting to do it this way.

Well I understand that it might bother you as I’ve had friends tell me my vagina is going to get ruined. My comment wasn’t meant to judge you but damn, women are harsh to one another.

For me, it has nothing to do with being a good or bad parent, it has to do with MY health. I know that is unconscionable for a woman to consider herself in the process but I am.

Administering the proper medications has also shown to slow down delivery, especially when induction is present.

What would you prefer? I usually say I don’t want a cesarean or anything that increases my likelihood of having one.

Fine, I got the number wrong, its still 2-3 times higher in the US than it should be.

You quoted her and it included non-medicated vaginal birth. I am responding to her quote you posted. I also intend to breast feed.

I hate the idea that those of us who want natural childbirth are crazy naturopaths. I love medicine and science and I know that if I undergo major surgery that isn’t really necessary, I open myself up to a greater risk of infection. Childbirth isn’t something we need medical interventions for in MOST cases. Obviously

Childhood? I hate to break it to you but it sounds like your childhood was pretty fucked up.

My husband uses suave 2 in 1, the shampoo/conditioner on his head, body and face....I have no idea how you guys do it.

She was just curious!

Pennsylvanian on the eastern border here.....NJ already offers 6 months paid leave and now NY....I picked the wrong damn state to continue to reside in while I am pregnant.

You’ve never had hot sex unless you’ve done it while your cat lays on your legs and doesn’t move at all.

No, she just mouths it

Anything from Drew Magary is solid gold, especially if its a Dadspin article.

Counterpoint: their sub-blog Adequate Man is excellent and worth of a daily visit.
