I had clicked reply on his message, typed my answer, then decided not to bother sending it. I hit cancel, scrolled down, and found you had answered with THE EXACT SAME WORDS I had typed into the box. I imagine this represents the experience of a whole lot of us.
Well, as you said to me earlier, he thinks women think with his head.
Haha, best comment on this thread. Great analogy between the quote and the anger of Mr Notallmen.
Look, if this if some sort of attempt at logic, you should take a class or something. Because these sentences do not at all mean what you are reading them as meaning.
The meme refers to what *women* are *afraid of*. You read it as what *men* will *do 100 percent of the time*. Don’t you see the difference? Every woman I know has these fears about men. That doesn’t mean every man is going to kill a woman or that they are all capable of it. It means that every woman lives with this…
The quote still doesn’t say “reject” anywhere in it. The fact that you think someone rejecting at you and someone laughing at you are the same actually does say a lot about how your mind works. You think that being rejected is a personal affront, an insult, an act committed against you. None of which is true. A woman…
“i piped up because of the meme implying that all men are capable of harming/killing a woman.”
Why would a woman express that fear to you when you’ve made it so clear that your response will be to dismiss it and say she’s being sexist?
Actually this meme implies that all (or most) women FEAR men, not that all men are capable of murdering them.
So basically, we have a story about a woman who has been murdered by a man she rejected, and you choose to come here, not to talk about this tragedy, but to suck all the oxygen out of the room and demand that we waylay that discussion to soothe your misplaced hurt feelings.
The meme doesn’t imply anything. It flat out says what it means. A woman fears that at some point she will meet a man that will try to kill her. A man fears that at some point he will meet a woman who laughs at him.
Alright, if you take issue with “attack”, allow me to rephrase: “dismiss” works just as well.
Too sick to comment really, so I’ll just agree with you and leave this here:
According to the FBI, of women who were homicide victims in 2010, 37.5% were killed by romantic partners. That doesn’t mean that a woman is likely to be killed by a man, but those numbers are enough to make most women wary of men in the context of relationships.
Fact of the matter is, men don’t treat women as equals. They still treat women as play things and someone to take care of all the shitty chores. Women are slowly moving away from a life where they have to be shackled to some dude and baby, work for eight hours, take care of dude/baby, and always put everyone else…
You’re being deliberately obtuse. It’s apparent that the quote is comparing the ways that men and women relate to each other, not that any man a woman meets is going to kill her. When guys go on first dates, their friends don’t tell them to text when they’re home safe, or advise that they go to a public place.
Will this never cease to be the truth??
but weirdly, it worked :)
Seriously - what did I do there with the formatting? It was unintentional.
