I've been alerted to the presence of Doug Barry recently. I've been reading Jezebel consistently for about 6 months now, I suppose I just never noticed.

Interesting. I've seen it more embraced by post-wave trans-inclusive feminists
Sometimes, for womyn to feel safe, a space must be focused around other womyn. Other times, spaces should be inclusive of all who want to participate. I think for Jezebel, cis-men should be welcome in the discussion, but those conversations should be facilitated by womyn.
Thanks, I guess I never noticed him.
Womyn is a feminist term used to express explicit inclusion of those whose sex and gender do not match.
Ignoring your use of sex and gender as interchangeable, I'd say that it would be the same thing as a white guy writing for the Grio. Jezebel is a space where womyn (and trans*men) are able to express their opinions without being discredited by their gender, something which is relatively rare on the internet. Not only…
That would be the same as putting a white person in charge of black liberation. White people and men make wonderful allies, but they should be just that.
There's a difference between men commenting and men being hired as columnists for a feminist blog. At my school, a guy took over the presidency of the feminist club, and it became less of a safe space. Cis-men will always have a part in feminism, but women should take the leadership rolls in the movement.
Awesomesauce! You seem fantastic, I suppose I just temporarily freaked at the idea that Jezebel might be taken over by men and become reddit. Totally not a problem, though :D Welcome!
Okay so no hate for Reuben, I'm sure he's great, but when did Jezebel start hiring men?
I'll admit it, I sleep in my makeup sometimes. But my reason isn't to look pretty while I sleep, I'm just too lazy to take it off.
I went 3 months without ever being completely naked in the 6th grade. I was being bullied pretty badly and just got really uncomfortable with my body.
Those are oddly transfixing. Unrelated, I really want one of the Oaxacan animals he had on his head.
I'd wear that.
I was exactly the kid they didn't want wearing their clothes, but in middle school, I went to goodwill and bought them there anyway. but seriously, EW.
This comment is almost as perfect as your username.
Nope. I was abused for years, but because my mom was good at avoiding bruises, nobody could do anything. The system is not to be counted on.
Wait, what did Rebel Wilson do? Is this sarcasm, or did she actually say something awful? Because she's definitely funny.
Let me add up my annual makeup expenditures.
