@RolandScrofa: True, but the freelancer providing the work is still getting nothing. You need a bargained for exchange of value—both sides need something. So if I did work for you for free with nothing in return, you get a benefit from the arrangement and I do not. Now if you give me authorship credit in exchange

@YeshayaFlamingo: Not to be a jerk, but it's not that simple (though it doesn't have to be hard either). Don't forget about choice of law/venue, separability, integration, and other such provisions. Not to mention that some exchange of value (consideration) needs to occur. Lastly, you need to draft the contract so

@owens: I have a part-time law practice, so I'm biased. I don't like tools that create form contracts or free online templates as they often have major problems or miss key state specific rules. If your contract terms are generally consistent across all your various jobs, then pay a lawyer to draft you up a custom

Be careful about the wording of service for free contracts. You need some sort of consideration for the contract to hold-up. Consideration could be in the form of public credit for your work or what have you, but some exchange should occur. [en.wikipedia.org]

@JuryDuty: It actually might have been an older comment you made that got me using Gyminee. It's helped me a ton. I don't use the community aspects so much, but all the tools have kept me moving in a positive direction. I love the site.

My name is very unique and there is only one of me in the world... but this thing seems to have pictures of other people on my page. That makes me think of how paying the fees to get information removed is pointless. Posting up a lot of false info about a few non-existent doppelgangers is the way to go.

@helixed: You kind of messed up your gag. Your swastika is facing the wrong direction. [en.wikipedia.org] . While I don't support Palin, comparing Republican figures to Nazis is a bit much and doesn't seem to accomplish anything.

@fakerjohn: I can see Thuderbird being a good solution. I wanted a scheduled backup solution on my Ubuntu Server, and I think that's where this has some real strength. It was a painless setup and now my emails are backed up without me even thinking about it.

@jkremer3: I was locked out of my Google Apps account for a full day not long ago. It didn't actually cause any harm, but it made me a little nervous.

@almostwitty: Gmail Backup saves label data. The label data is useless if you are trying to find something within their eml files, but the system will restore labels if you are transferring to a new account or restoring a backup.

I'm really starting to love this thing. I just got the linux command line version running on my server and have it set to back-up my Google Apps account and my wife's Gmail account nightly. Now all I need to do is make the eml files content-searchable and we'll be set if a long outage ever occurs.

I do not love it/hate it; I am intrigued.

I use [www.gyminee.com] to track my diet (calories and all) at home and on the go. I just pull it up on my cell when I'm out and about. If I don't have time to pull up Gyminee, I can at least write a note about what I ate and record it in Gyminee later on. Calories are important, but it's good to look at fat,

@orlo: I think it's more that some people complain, yet do nothing about the problems of which they complain about. It's not just voting—people need to be involved and work to make a change. One should not accept lousy government if that is their opinion, but that person should not sit idly by and allow the

@dittrich: I love the idea, but I question whether there will be enough poll workers to handle 24 hours of voting. We have volunteers and paid employees in my city and they are still understaffed.

I'll keep y my caps lock key—I need it when I'm dealing in contracts. Certain warranties and indemnity provisions require entire paragraphs be written in all caps. Holding the shift key to type entire paragraphs is not fun.

@InNeedOfTea: That sounds promising. Thanks for the clarification.

I've been using jZip instead of 7-Zip and like it a lot. It's 7-Zip with a better interface (see the review on Freeware Genius). [www.freewaregenius.com]
