But what color will the shipping protection come in?!?!

The contractual ignorance in the comments is staggering. Yes, it would be nice if FCA just said screw it and let them keep the money, but god forbid they enforce the contract they signed with UAW.

If this happened at my company, I would understand that I was returning money to which I wasn’t entitled. Why would someone expect a company to not seek a return of funds that were granted in error?

It’s pretty important if you are one of those 120 people.

As a salaried working at a different OEM who is currently enjoying a 20% pay “deferral” (I’ll believe that when the pay is reinstated) I concur. The last couple of years saw some fantastic bonuses, but I highly doubt we will see anything this year. I would just be happy (and surprised) to actually be paid back that

As a salaried employee receiving 80% of my normal pay while continuing to work, I honestly don’t feel a whole lot of sympathy here. Maybe I will if and when my full pay is reinstated. Ditto on the supposed future payback of the remaining 20%.

Fiat Chrysler, an automaker that made $3 billion in operating profit last year, is having 24,000 of its workers pay back an average of $500 in unemployment benefits...

My friend, all global white collar FCA workers took a 20% pay deferral effective March 30th.

When the quote inside the article is longer than the article itself...is both peak laziness and more than likely a failure of the author to understand the material itself. But I guess being known as Jalopnik’s greatest troll is something to hang your hat on.

Well, thank you for those oh so special thoughts, friend.

They could do something about the interior. Right now it looks like a fax from 2003.

Awwwww i didnt want him to know he wasted his time writing this article for at least another 30 minutes. Lol thanks a lot!!

Put it another way: it’s 25% of Ford’s 2019 profit.

Nothing, except he’d have to pay hefty capital gains taxes (probably the 20% long-term rate) on the shares he’s selling...and wait...and wait.

Terrible take; the union workers are getting their full pay regardless of the situation. They’re certainly not facing the same hardships as other people who’ve permanently lost their jobs. Meanwhile, no one is buying cars, FCA is losing billions (this isn’t last year) and 12 million could certainly go a long way in

By the shareholders, do you mean everybody who has something other than just Social Security and coffee can of cash in the backyard for retirement? If you have a 401K, a 403B, a pension, or some types of IRAs, you better damn well hope companies are looking out for their shareholders.

Fiat Chrysler, an automaker that lost 1.8 billion last quarter, is having 24,000 of its workers pay back an average of $500 in unemployment benefits they received from the company after the U.S. government raised its unemployment allowance.

I really find it hard to understand how you can fault a company for correcting a pay error. This is not some elaborate plan to screw over the little guy, they are simply fixing an over payment.

Money isn’t free. Christ. Try to act like a fucking adult.

What grievance would the UAW have? How dare you follow the contract we signed?
