Since he changed the oil pump, I would assume that the 2nd case is true. That means the cam journals and bearing surfaces are scored. Unfortunately it doesn’t use cam bearings.

I switched carriers to Google Fi. A pleasant feature of theirs is to identify “suspected spam callers”. After you receive a call from an unknown number, Google will ask if this was a spam call. They seem to identify around 75% of the robo calls.
