I would argue that GM absolutely takes risks but they have historically murdered their own products before they can properly develop. GM developed a viable, promising electric car years before its competitors.

ok Crazy...(sorry, you asked for it) But you are not going back far enough.  The 1990 300 twin turbo is really good, but I’ve been lucky enough to have owned 2 1979 280zx. They seem small now when I see one, but the 280 was the sweet spot, IMO.

There was a guy who used to work at my building who had a 300ZX he’d drive in a few years ago. Definitely still a great looking vehicle.
