Everyone on this site: “I want a fast, stylish-but-not-overstyled, 300-400hp car with RWD, a manual transmission, and relatively analog underpinnings. I also want it for cheap.”

I call BS. How can a car that doesn’t have a Grill win (Telsa)? How can the lead picture be a non winner (Silverado)?
I woke up about 15 minutes ago, turned on my phone, and this was the very first notification I got.
The Euro spec E36 was just plain better than the US spec. The Euro spec got 286HP, and was bumped up to 320 or so in 1995 along with a 6 speed gearbox. The US spec stayed at 240HP and kept the 5 speed.
Disagree, either the blue or the rare but so awesome purple win for me.
It is the right color.*
Didn’t even read it. ND. I’ve always hated these abominations.
For a kid’s first car I’d want the one without the blower. That one’s too easy to get in trouble with. (My first car was a mini - youngest daughter a Colt 200 - oldest daughter didn’t get a car until in her 30s and got an Elantra GT) Now for a good highway cruiser / commuter - NP ALL DAY LONG - even if it IS a GM -
Don’t see it either
There will be someone...and that someone is me. There is NO similarity.
Gunna get flamed, but I’ve always hated Phoenix Yellow. Worst color they’ve ever sold a car in.
Ah yes, the custom muffler delete. I know exactly what that means: Dylan here showed up to Meineke where his buddy Eddie is a tech. Eddie installed some “custom made” mandrel bends, and just... didn’t put on any mufflers.
Wasn’t a failed attempt at Step 2 how VW got control of Porsche in the first place?
I was just speaking to someone who knows these cars inside and out, and they didn’t recommend touching the IMS on a 997.1, because it’s much, much harder to get to than in a 996. That, and the incidence of the IMS blowing on 997.1s is extremely low.
Ditto. Man, I obsessed for a year and a half to find a late 996 or preferably 997 to replace my 16 year old WRX weekend car and you’re exactly right. They were either WILDLY expensive or absolute rolling pieces of junk and on the 996 and 997.1 the interiors were HORRIBLE.
Literally, not joking, the interior quality is…
That stood out more than anything- if you are doing the clutch you do the IMS.
Sure, but there is a reason for that. Not because they dont exist or were used, but the fact of the matter is, they arent collectible and werent known to be very reliable as well. Extremely rare, sure. But how many people are actually looking or wanting one for that matter?
“There’s a very high chance a 1980 F-250 with that low mileage would never come up for sale again.”
I’ve been saying for years.. if I buy another “enthusiast” car again its going to be a 1 series. Last BMW I really liked.
I know a lot of folks aren’t going to like the interior swap, but the interior swap is what actually makes this truck liveable. If you wanted to daily this truck, you could. Why? Because old interiors wore you out.
