Costa Rica is an amazing country and I encourage everyone to visit it! Incredibly beautiful locations and the people are just wonderfully nice; it’s also one of the only countries in the world without a standing army and is a nice bastion of stability in Latin America.

GOOD. I teach in a right-to-work state where the largest teachers’ organization proudly bills itself as “not a union!”, so most of us have given up on having any type of collective power. Oklahoma is also RTW. I don’t know the strength of their NEA and/or AFT affiliates, but they’re giving me hope that power is indeed…
What is with wealthy women acting like decorating their home is some big accomplishment? Big deal, you decorated your own house the way you like it, that is not contributing to society or even worthwhile work. It’s self serving, your are just surrounding yourself with things you like - who cares!
Does she want some sort of medal for choosing to decorate her own house herself? Wow. I understand that most people in her income bracket hire interior designers, but if *this* is the best anecdote she can come up with to show people how “down to earth” she is, that actually lowers my opinion of her even more.
What do you mean? I often invite my spouse to my office so people can take our picture as we reload paper into the copy machine.

If for no other reason than “just as worse as” is incoherent and so they’re clearly in need of a steadying slap in the face.
So at what point does the government collapse entirely? Between the people who are incompetent at their jobs, the positions left unfilled, the people who retire/exit, and the people who are outright hating everything right now, who will keep the country working.
