I think you were thinking of freezing to death? I’ve heard you lose feeling and the disorientation is not that bad. Drowning is both panic-stricken and painful.

Regardless of educational value, drowning is not a humane method of euthanasia. There are other easy methods that minimize suffering. Doing that for show is a sign of a psychopath.
