That scene with Blanky and Fitzjames was amazingly written, acted, and scored. It provided an unreasonable amount of chills for two guys sitting at a table talking calmly about something that happened long ago.

Agreed, nothing seems quite as dire as I think they want it to. I think it’s a side-effect of them wanting viewers to be able to see the faces of the characters so we have some chance of figuring out who is doing what, but it does make the situation seem less severe.
One of these weeks I’m going to stop being surprised by how much I enjoy all the changes they made from the book, but not this week, I guess.
I read the book last summer and IIRC Simmons doesn’t focus so much on lead poisoning. Instead the problem is that the stores weren’t soldered properly and so a bunch of them eventually started to rot. I think they were expanding, too, which implied that they were full of Clostridium to me. They were also made with…
I just really want to talk about the changes from the book. Did anyone else read it? I have to say... I think the adjustments are mostly for the better?
I just really appreciate that you summed up the plots of the first two movies as I have absolutely no memory of them at all, though I’m pretty sure I saw them both.
It’s pretty good it you like long, historical books. Then it goes completely bonkers in the end and, for as drawn out as the rest is, the ending is incredibly rushed.
I mean, Malkin almost fell on it.
So this ‘universe’ is basically Penny Dreadful, but crap?
I still liked season two, but man, the secondhand embarrassment felt a LOT higher. After the cliffhanger now, I wish they’d just finished it with one season and left it alone.
Which made me sad, because Marco Polo really came into its own in season two (and cut way back on the gratuitous nudity).
Did they blend his face with Liev Schreiber for X-24, do you think?
Based on the shady shit the Canadian government gets up to in the X comics I was just amused that they thought they were going to be safe there.
Agreed, especially about the language. I get it, they’re so glad they finally got an R that every other word needs to be fuck, but it got a bit wearisome.
Seriously, was I the only one who thought Prof. X’s death was the cheapest death of a beloved character since they dropped a bridge on Kirk in Trek?
Excellent summation of the movie
Wait, am I the only person who just assumed the Cars movies were in the same universe as the Toy Story movies and all the cars were just dumb toys (like initial Buzz Lightyear) who never ever realized they were toys?
The success of this show makes me wish more and more that they’d grab ‘Pirates of Dark Water’ and re-make that cartoon. It can’t possibly be that expensive and it would be so cool.
Oh shit, that was a real show? I’d convinced myself I imagined it.
This is the one that immediately popped into mind for me, too. Now days I just stop watching shitty shows, fortunately.
