You guys should take a look at Teen Spirit (yeah, dumb name...) it is a free media player / organizer available here:

I like the integration with ScreemR, it makes it a useful tool for finding / downloading hard to get stuff. Overall though, it just either has a long way to go or is just missing the mark.

Easiest one I have found is YouTubeGet (free edition at www.youtubeget.com)

Oh yeah,

Never had a bit of trouble with FileZilla. Been using it for a few years and it just does everything you could ever need. Free and an Open Source project.

I really want to like this, but I guess I am just not a keyboard shortcut kinda guy. I have my hand on my mouse as much or more than on the keyboard (doing a lot of graphics work) and find that using ObjectDock, with my start menu set up in categories of software and a corresponding icon on my dock for each category

Couple of things that I find weird. First, when I type a keyword like "convertx" and launch it, the next time I pop up Executor it has "convertx" already typed in for me, and if I want to launch my console program, which has a keyword of "con", it's a big hassle. I either have to hit delete when the entire keywork

Yeah, no matter how good it is, if an "unambiguous" keyword can't be selected by just hitting enter, and you have to arrow / tab down to it, that's a deal breaker.

I think 7Zip is a good free alternative if you don't need to "create" .RAR files. It will extract both ZIP and RAR (the two most common archive formats in the Windows world) and will create .ZIP files, which is probably all that 75% of people need. If however you upload to usenet (newsgroups) or many other places

I wrote and distributed this via shareware starting in 1989, I think you can still get a copy here:

Adam, Adam, Adam... You have to be careful what you say in your articles. ;-)

Are you quite sure it "creates" WinRar compatible .rar files? Extracting / viewing is license free from the Rar folks, but distributing software which creates .rar files is normally a no-no...

I find the indexing service in Vista to be something that I don't want running. It tries its best to stay out of the way and only run when the computer is "idle", but it still takes a lot of resources and keeps your hard drive chugging away. So, while I like Windows Desktop Search (Vista), I have found that Locate32

It's made me angry and bitter and cynical about our government... Oh wait. You meant my "driving" behavior?

Sorry.. There is UltraEdit, then there is everything else in second place.
