ok, on this one there’s dickery from both sides. The little boy on the bike who thinks public roads are his own personal race track should have had his license suspended at most.

True, but they are adequate if you drive like a normal, smart, defensive driver. I’ve owned a set for 65,000kms, so I’m well aware of how they perform year round. You can do better, but you can also do much, much worse.
It’s the Focus ST camera car.
fun fact: nobody saying “you should have outrun the police” has ever had the balls to try it themselves.
...And It’s Bill Caswell’s Fault
No, the Difference between an All Weather Tire and a Winter Tire is the All Weather Tire has a Tread Wear Rating. It is not the same (nor as good) as a dedicated Winter Tires. However, they are better then normal All Season when it comes to snow traction.
He’s not, you just haven’t heard of them before. These are All Weather Tires, a term made popular in Canada by Kal Tire, and Nokian. These are all season tires that meet the Snowflake/Mountain extreme requirements, while still having a tread wear rating (something winter tires do not have).
Tell you what, Next time you need a winter tire look me up and I’ll give you a deal through the dealership. I have a fair bit of experience with different winter tires and know which ones are good/worth the money.
I got 65,000 kms out of my set (replaced at 2-3/32nds above the wear bar due to piss poor wet grip and noise levels), on a 2007 Mazda 3 with a perfect alignment (work in the industry so I keep an eye on it). This was being driven around Vancouver mostly and a couple trips to Edmonton being the longest drives they saw.…
There is a category, it’s mostly Nokian, with a model or 2 from Kumho and Hankook (Kumho Solus Vier KH21 I think and Hankook Optimo 4S). They are snow rated but also have a tread wear rating. I’ve owned the Kumho tires before and they worked well for my winter conditions (Costal BC) but after 2 or 3 season they were…
I get you’re referencing All Weather Tires, but they are only snow rated for half the tread depth, after that it’s an all season. They are massively compromised on dry grip, tread life, and NVH as well when compared to an all season. 1 set to buy twice as often? No thanks.
Must be a conspiracy by the big tire makers. Lol.

Driver distraction is not the same as driving faster than you can see, and driving like an asshole on public roads.
