Actually though, that’s the point. Why have a mailbox at all in today’s day and age? There are better forms of communication now and supporting a dying industry is wasteful. If you’re only getting junk mail then it’s time it follows the same path as the horse and buggy.

I could do without some of the egos on Shark Tank but still like the overall idea and opportunity that the show presents. I wish there were more truly innovative ideas presented rather than just variations on food and clothing though, which makes some episodes better than others.

I’ve commented on this as well. I think it has a lot to do with why I don’t watch any organized sports anymore but love this show. They genuinely work hard and support each other, and even though (or maybe because) the pay is low for all but the big winner. When not competing, they can often be seen in the stands

If these fail, it’s time for:

    I love this whole collection.

My oldest daughter has a tree nut allergy. I love to keep snacks in the house that contain tree nuts since I know nobody will touch them. Sounds like it’s begun.

I did the Apple TV 4k deal. The device is arriving tomorrow. It’s been a few days since ordered and, so far, we’ve watched zeroDirecTV. They don’t have local channels in my area, which was the only thing I was looking forward to. We cut the cord years ago and don’t watch anything with commercials anymore so the one

I’d prefer this to breaking it into multiple parts.

“Fish is still good for us, though. Observational studies, which estimate how much fish people eat and their incidence of heart disease, consistently find that eating fish at least once per week is associated with a lower risk of dying of coronary heart disease.”

This. I think the only thing noteworthy here is that we actually have data on these cars. If we had data on all cars, there would be a much longer list of the crazy shit that goes on.

If it’s to honor multiple presidents, shouldn’t it be Presidents’ Day?

Similar ignorance story here. We have a crosswalk at work that chirps when the walk sign is lit. Somebody asked why and I said there are a couple blind people in the building nearby so it helps to tell them when it’s safe to cross. They said oh that’s cool, I wonder what deaf people do. I looked at them quizzically

Yeah, and in Polanski’s case he was guilty of both so there’s no splitting of hairs, there.

You did read the part where that interview was 15 years ago, right? But now you’re done????

And if you didn’t wear a seatbelt and didn’t get killed in a car and didn’t wear a helmet but didn’t get a head injury on a bike or motorcycle, etc. it doesn’t mean that you’re magically unbreakable, does it? It just means you’ve been lucky so far. And meanwhile, you’re more harmful to others around you.

So you’re telling everyone about it (or else how would they know and be reacting the way they do?) but somehow this is different from the people who don’t have TVs and wear it as a badge of honor how?

All traffic tickets are profit motivated, period.

Mixed feelings on this. Every single business operates on this same model - I’m thinking of putting a business here which will be good for your city/community but only if you make it worth my while. Tax breaks etc. follow and, depending on the size and opportunity, the incentives can be quite large. I can think of

I’ve never seen a failed port and I plug/unplug frequently. I don’t know of anyone personally that has ever had this problem so I’ll put this on the low end of potential issues.

Same. I’m always running either music or a podcast and always have GPS running, even on familiar routes to alert and adjust for unexpected road/travel conditions.
