It isn’t about facts. It’s about status anxiety. Most people in the anti-vaxx movement can’t even memorize the pseudoscince they rely on. They just know they want to fit in with the monied middle-class. They people who look like I want to look must be right, correct? And it doesn’t help that Big Pharma can be it’s own…

It’s about seeing poors, blacks and latinx families in line and feeling that you’re vaguely in the wrong if you’re doing the same thing as them. A live autistic kid is an inconvenience and a bearer of social stigma against the whole family. A child who died of mumps etc. is a tragedy the makes you a sympathetic figure.
