He was a public scientist contributing a staggering amount to the world. As a visiting scientist, he wasn’t expected to teach. He was expected to PRODUCE.

Stallman was a visiting scientist, not a professor. Professors have power over others. He did not.

Stallman was never a “professor” at MIT. A professor is a teacher on the tenure track. Stallman was originally a graduate student and then a researcher at the Artificial Intelligence Lab and later a visiting scientist at the Media Lab.
