Perhaps. Though, one must wonder, how often does someone with a $130,000 SUV (Sport-utility-VAN?) have the desire to fold down the seats? I can’t imagine many people with a RRSVR or Top of the Line Range Rover ever fold down their rear seats for more storage.

My guess is a) reduced complexity - especially given that radical windshield, and b) the point of the rear doors is easier access to the third row and deal with children in car seats (and not being able to/wanting to do a sliding door).

I am guessing there are some safety reasons for that. The solid monocoque seats are probably safer (more rigid) in an impact making them much safer than a seat which literally folds up if one little metal latch is engaged. It’s no secret that safety is a high priority for tesla vehicles

I agree with you. I think the best is a suede/alcantara seat with leather inserts ala my Evoque. Keeps the parts that touch my body neutral temp while maintaining the feel and look of leather on the other parts.
