I really wanted my next car to be a plug-in hybrid wagon, but all the plug-in hybrids on the market seem to be too small, too big, or too expensive.  One of those VWs might be a viable alternative.

Ha, I saw people making jokes about the Kominsky Record on Twitter. I did not know it was a show.

Cool that the trailer also managed in just a few seconds to summarize the 2018 internet.

I always get this movie confused with Disturbing Behavior and at the time, I think I liked that one better. Haven’t seen either in the intervening decades though.

I didn’t do a ton of reading this year, but I tore through Harry Connolly’s Twenty Palaces series (Currently 4 novels and two novellas) in about a week and a half this summer. I don’t know if this is a real genre, but I’d describe them as Hard-Boiled Fantasy.  (This may not be a reference that helps anyone, but I hear

Yep.

At least putting “Ram” or “Dodge” on the front of a truck tells pedestrians what it’s for and what they’ll probably need to do.

Well DC did/does have a Captain Marvel, though I understand they call him Shazam now.  (And Nintendo had “Captain N: The Gamemaster - which was kind of stupid and bad to be fair.)

From the trailer I’d’ve assumed Yon-Rogg

Looks like they’re merging/streamlining Carol’s story and Mar-Vell’s. And her memory loss won’t be the result of Rogue absorbing her whole personality for obvious reasons. Changes that are probably necessary because otherwise her backstory would be a total clusterfuck.

And impregnating Danae with a golden shower...

I never managed to watch after the first season, but that first season of Penny Dreadful was great.

Cowl aside, Nite Owl is much more Blue Beetle than Batman.

I probably say this in every Allen Moore movie article, but the reason why Allen Moore film adaptations never work is that movies are basically plot-delivery devices, and plot is the aspect of a work that Moore cares least about. The plot is just the Christmas tree that he gets to hang all the stuff he actually cares

Lately (for obvious reasons) I’ve had the the line “The ship is sinking” from Tom Waits’ “God’s Away On Business” stuck in my head. The line itself is hardly profound, but the delivery is most of it.

I saw the headline for this earlier in the day and assumed it was a retrospective review of some video release from 10 years ago. I’m astounded they made another one of these.

They need to wait on Red Skull until the X-Men are fully integrated into the MCU, because I want Magneto to get a shot at the Red Skull.

LOL. Yeah sure they are.

Yeah, Topher Grace, with a similar build to Tobey Maguire and similarly good looking, but with insincere smarm in place of Maguire’s sad, sad eyes should work as a dark reflection of Peter Parker. In a better structured movie, there’s no reason why that wouldn’t work.

I don’t think anyone knew she was in a coma, they thought she was dead. You don’t put coma patients in coffins, crystaline or otherwise.
