JRapp: now as good as new again

Absolutely. Though unfortunately this kind of experience doesn't translate too well between drive configurations. I'm 100% at home in the slippery stuff in a MR/FR cars because of exactly this. I've spent hours in snowy parking lots in RWD cars. Now though, my last 2 have been AWD (Audi A6 and Acura MDX.. because

I guess that's a valid point too. I mean it could be as simple as "I'll give you a hell of a deal on the new A8 if you give the A2 good reviews and boost its sales.." Or even to the point where the manufacturers themselves give out press vehicles for "long term road tests".

Moral of the story - only trust automotive journalism from countries that don't produce cars of their own, like Micronesia or Estonia?

"transcontinental car race" you say? They'll need Burt Reynolds.. but given that Dom DeLuise and Farrah Fawcett are otherwise preoccupied, it probably won't be very good.

Yes, and actually that serves double duty. Not only are you having some fun, you also learn to handle your car on the roads should you slip around.

At best, front license plates ruin the look of a car. At worst, they compromise the aerodynamics too. Plus, they're not even illuminated like back license plates are, so what's the point?

BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi have come up with brilliant new headlight designs that use many LEDs to illuminate the road ahead while not blinding the driver traveling in the other lane, instead of having to constantly switch from High to Low.

That's sort of similar to an old soviet Moskvitch.. Note that 2nd is literally in the drivers seat.

All of these blue tinted Electric and Hybrid badges look like someone forgot to peel the protecting plastic sheet off of the chrome.

At least they didn't pitch to Ford or Honda..

You can drift anything.

Also used to make motorcycles before the car. My grandpa had one in the 70s and 80s:

Ask and you shall receive:

I was picturing this:

Since they'll be needing many of them, they probably need something relatively cheap and in bulk. A quick search on Alibaba for Cargo Vans shows a bunch of little Chinese made cargo vans like this one for example. They can't be any worse than the current things.

Nah the Niva doesn't count. I'm thinking more like any of the 210X models or maybe a Moskwitsch.

2105. 2106 has two round headlights... but yea. I've been wanting to get a Lada as a project car in the States to replace my Fiero. That's hard to accomplish though.

I watched this entirely too many times before I realized it was a looping gif. I was waiting for them to figure out what was blocking it and fit it on...

I sent one of those to Finland (via Estonia but it ended up in Finland I'm told). It was a black 89 Firebird Formula with a 5.0L and 5-speed. It was a fun car, even in the snow, nice and rumbly with the Flowmaster exhaust..
