Good points. I guess it depends on what is most important to you in a car, lack of which making it shitty. With a family of 4 plus a dog, a Miata would no doubt be a shitty car, but for a single person living in a townhouse downtown somewhere it may be perfect.

No I agree with the OP. It's great on track, but as a daily driven car it is kind of shitty. Not roomy enough to be comfortable sitting in traffic and not enough gadgets, not enough trunk space for a Costco run, not enough seats to haul friends around, kind of dangerous in traffic as it's so small and easily missed,

CP All the way. While I love Audis, and the 4.2L is fantastic while it's running. Stay away from aging 4.2Ls. I know from personal experience what a nightmare it can be if one of your chain tensioners goes bad. I had a C6 A6 with a 4.2L. Chain tensioner/guide went, pistons hit the valves. The chain and tensioner kit

When I say "Mali" you say...

I'm trying to think of a car that has all of these or even many of these, but failed at one that has both popup headlights and a retractable tailgate, be it power or otherwise..

I don't know about that one..

Soviet Ladas and such had this as an option til at least the 80s..

Oh man, I've spent days (maybe weeks) of my life that I will never get back, troubleshooting an overheating issue caused by a brand new water pump with a plastic impeller that came loose from the shaft, but only when the engine warmed up.. such a bad idea.

And then take the escalator up.. only to go walk on a treadmill or a stair-master..

Realistically, what's considered "cool" in Eastern Europe is what you see Eastern Europeans driving in the rest of the world - big Germans. There are people who are into off-roading who drive Jeeps and other such SUVs as well, and there is an American car sub-culture, as well any other car sub-culture to a certain

I only have one dummy button, but no hard work could have filled it, as that's for an option only available in Canadia - headlight washers. Apparently us on the state side don't have a need for that. Beyond that, I'm proud to say, it has every factory and dealer option available minus the sport suspension with the

The Montana Auto Museum in Deer Lodge is pretty interesting. Lots of cool stuff there.

Someone was making and selling custom "Check Wallet" light overlays to replace the stock "Check Engine" lights for Fieros.. can't find the link anymore though..
(related; what with the flames and all..)

My Fiero would blink a light at me to tell me the codes if I shorted two of the pins in the OBD-I port:

I call this the Cleft Palate design language. Similar to the otherwise awesome Audi R8. There is just something about the lack of bumper below the headlights that bugs me.

I actually kind of like that collection as a whole...

I like 80s GM "sports" cars. The Firebirds, C4 Vettes, Fieros, Camaros, Monte Carlos. They may not be the fastest or the best handling, but I think they had more character than later years GM.

While I'm not a baby boomer, to me the expected car ownership mileage range is from 100k to 150k, anything before and after that is kind of a bonus, though hopefully my latest ride will last up to 200k. Then I fully expect it to blow up as it's German and not Japanese.
