To Mendes’s/the writer’s credit - they slowly want you to think of Lester as creepy. The scene mid-film when Angela feels his muscles and then demures to go find Jane, he *glares* at her so angrily and it’s unmistakable, as the camera focuses on it. It’s supposed to be frightening.
