Well the counterpoint i would give is you have the Zelda lore and story to fall on. Many action games fall into boring combat at the very least this one will be interesting in seeing and playing characters you never could before. Also it seems like the story is bananas in a fun way that will at least be very different…
One thing to keep in mind is that it's only button mash-y at lower difficulties. The higher difficulties will murder you if you just try and mash all the buttons without knowing what your attacks do and which combos you can pull if in different instances (also guard breaking).
