Of course it was fucking Florida.

Thinking of writers like Ignatiy, Sean O’Neal, Emily Vanderwyff, etc trying to wrap their heads around an article minimizing the importance of Martin Scorsese...  it just doesn’t compute.

It’s unusable on mobile, and it’s only marginally better on desktop.  I don’t understand the strategy behind it at all, other than to just suck every last bit of marrow out of the bones of this poor skeleton before they finally grind it to dust.

You can’t argue with stupid.

Who’s idea was it to take Willy freaking Wonka and make it dull and drab?

Inasmuch as she wants to minimize the people who can take a percentage of the money coming from her fans to her, yeah, she seems to want to screw the system. And she has to power- and will- to do it, so good for her.

In the interest of steel manning the argument, I can kind of see a case to be made that there just aren’t that many new superstars nowadays. But that’s largely because of the fragmentation of culture- there’s fewer superstars because everyone’s able to just watch/listen/consume their own thing and not all coalesce

It deserves to be as wonderfully weird a television show as the books are.

I could probably switch Hill House and Midnight Mass, depending on the day.  I’ll be suprised if Usher doesn’t top Bly Manor, because that one didn’t work as well for me), but I can’t fault the list.

Exactly.  It’s why people still debate what Maureen O’Hara says to John Wayne at the end of The Quiet Man.

I won’t ruin your bliss about the subject at the moment, but if your curiosity gets the better of you, read up on the Twilight Zone Movie.

I don’t think he’s a reliable source on this- he has no reason to tell the truth here. He’s clearly being funny when he says to tell Dean Cundey he’s full of shit (ok, maybe he’s just being curmudgeonly John Carpenter).

But either way, it’s not like he’s going to come out after 40 years and say “ok, you got me, you

Yeah, I read that quote and I just started shaking my head. It’s like hearing that a three Michelin star restaurant wants to reopen as a competitor to McDonalds.  Just... why?

The basic business of Hollywood. The higher your budget is, the more people you have to appeal to and the inherently less idiosyncratic your work can be. A24 has made a name on producing idiosyncratic work from artistic directors.

Oh no questions are raised!”

To be fair, though, it sounds like she gave the theaters a really good deal. She could have demanded a lot more from them up-front. Studios regularly take up to 90% of the first week gross.

So there’s something for Swift, something for the Swifties, and something for cinemas everywhere”

And she fucks over the studios, specifically their distribution arms.  I’ve never intentionally listened to a Taylor Swift song, but I might be becoming a fan.

The original is no less renowned than it was a month ago. It’s always been a series with one beloved original film, one underseen gem of a sequel, and the rest* garbage.

It’s weird even for the old shows. Burrows directed stuff like Friends. There were scenes where practically every line was a joke. Something’s weird about that quote for sure.
