The lower end Subaru engines can’t take a power bump.  For example, the 2.0L in the Crosstrek is not the same as the 2.0L in the WRX.  The internals are different and can’t take the strain.  Nor is the transmission up to a power bump.  But a Crosstrek with a WRX or STI powertrain would be pretty nice.

The tune on my WRX got me nearly 100 HP and better mpg on the highway than stock.  City mpg was admittedly worse by 1-2 mpg but in town was never good on a WRX anyway.
