Yep, it’s difficult for people to believe that “it could happen to them”, until it does.

Youtube can flag a video for having some background music.

3-2-1.  At least 3 copies, at least 2 devices, at least 1 off-site.

They’d totally do that if they could, but the only one who knows how is Steve, and he’s out this week.

So, Chinese word processing software can detect and lock your doc if it detects “bad words or ideas” but Twitter and Facebook can’t figure out how to get their software to flag when someone posts about wanting to go shoot some place up?

its not like the 1929 stock market crash, in that event the stocks were sheilded from a 0$ floor price by their tangible assets (at some point the cost of the stock at a price became a deal as you could buy it and sell/hold the assets). Crypto has no such feature — it is inherently a no tangible value entity. There is

History doesn’t repeat, but it echoes -loudly-...

For instance, when someone loses their life savings on crypto, where did that money actually end up?

All the money that was put in is extracted by the people who run the exchanges or a few lucky early adopters.

I’m enjoying the irony of a group of people who ranted about the worthlessness of fiat currency because it’s not backed by GOLD putting their money/faith into a fiat currency backed by wasting electricity.

It’s like any investment. The money didn’t go anywhere; it’s just worth less. Like a car that starts losing value as soon as you drive it off the lot.

This is like the 1929 stock market crash but only for the guy from your high school who was really really into Ron Paul.

Bitcoin will never reach zero.

don’t think so. 2 pilots. 2 flight attendants in first class, 4 to cover the rest of the plain. that is 8. 9 doesn’t seem shocking

I was, and appreciated the clarification.

There are all kind of reasons for why a plane would crash in that manner. It could have stalled in a steep bank, resulting in a drop to the low wing side that the pilots could not recover from.

When the news broke it was literally the first question that popped into my head. I assume others were wondering the same thing.

people who (accurately) understand that china has successfully contained covid to a far greater degree to the usa are automatically tankies now? that’s like some full-blown far-right stuff, honestly. way to undermine your own credibility, i guess?

my guess is they’ll go outside and play, go to malls/concerts/etc/etc/etc. they actually will have way more things to do than usa children without risking covid, since the numbers in china are absolutely miniscule by comparison (of course the western media is pretending it’s pure pandemonium in china right now, big

That take was bad from the start and aged about as poorly as Walter Donavan at the end of the Last Crusade.
