Thanks for your stories, too! Those are really fun. I was surprised by Winona Ryder's awful response, as well as by Sarah Jessica Parker's incredibly kind one.
Oh man I can't wait to have little ones in my life to pass those books on to! Unfortunately I'm single as hell and potential nieces and nephews are along ways off (if my brother is reading this goddammit ((HA)) propose to Jessica already).
a) I had that stationary!
I love her, and that is wonderful!
I will assume this is the case!
Heeee! I think that's what my tender 13yo heart wanted to believe, as well! It must have been one of my earliest fan letters, too!
It was, except it looked like they printed out the bookmark (with his signature on it) on printer paper, so even though I knew the publisher had probably sent it, it was nice they answered my lame questions and gave me the bookmark. :)
Mike Nesmith is on my FB - I'm pretty sure the reason he accepted my friend request was my appreciation for Repo Man & Tapeheads, plus we have a LOT of mutual friends.
That's interesting! He did get my name a little wrong on the signed photo, though, so there is that! :)
My uncle and aunt used to work with him. I'm surprised but happy for you that he wrote back. He's always been described to me as brilliant but terrible at performing the little details of life.
Not enough butterflies! The paper probably had kittens or ponies on it, and she was pissed because if you were a true fan, you would've known that. (that crazy bitch) 4th grade?! Excuse me while I take my Geritol.
Oh, that one is hilarious too!
As do I, especially after he was so kind to my daughter. She was *thrilled* by his reply. I loved him in Swing Kids, and also in Much Ado About Nothing.
Yep. Also, your username is perfect.
He seems so nice! Glad to hear about this.
Hee hee. Which book made her laugh that much? A Walk In The Woods makes me howl repeatedly.
Oooooooh, I love Robert Sean Leonard!
This just confirms what I already suspected: Bill Bryson is the best. One of my all-time favourite authors...and apparently a nice guy, to boot. :)
