Nintendo also knows the fans will buy it anyway so they’re focusing on what general audiences will buy.

This is crazy to me. Why even bother? I almost exclusively use my Switch docked, so I’d be getting... an ethernet cable and not much else. Maybe with the bigger screen I’d be more inclined to play handheld? Text size on the current version is a major issue (I’m getting old & am probably already overdue for reading

My gut feeling is that they planned a 4K Pro and planned to make OLED standard on Pro and classic models, but due to chip shortages, Pro isn’t coming until 2022. If they announced Pro for June 2022, nobody buys any Switches until then, whereas this gets some people excited for the holidays, and they can roll out more

I’m sorry but advantages exactly?  Slightly better speakers and slightly larger screen dont come off as an advantage exactly.

It’s not like Nintendo has a history of selling underpowered consoles regardless of what the fans beg for...

Phhhhttt, lololol. Get the heck outta here with that Nintendo. I mean, hey, it’ll look good and sound good on the new Switch, but there isn’t anything (from whats been released today) that will make any tangible difference that any other game won’t also have. I mean, I guess it’ll have some cool stereo effects, but

Yeah…I don’t think this headline makes much sense, unfortunately.

I sincerely doubt it. Hell, one of the reasons I was rather bear-ish on the idea of a drastic performance boost mid-gen was because I couldn’t imagine Nintendo would even want to potentially revisit the New 3DS debacle.

Oh lol so this guy was just an idiot.

Show me one example where that has ever been the case, period. It has only ever happened to trademarks, not copyrights. Copyright is automatic: You need not apply for it, and there’s nothing you can do to “lose” it.

This. You’d have to be a complete moron to start charging people for Roms that you have no legal right to distribute, especially newer titles that account for significant sources of revenue for the company.

Anyone can afford $50/month. That was an extremely lenient payment, and if it was my balls to the fire you better believe I'm making that payment early every month

Based on the fact they even agreed to the $50/month payments, I think they have enough information that there’s really no chance of getting money out of him. Seems like a bit of overkill to do that to a guy if he can’t even afford $50/month.

Next step would be to garnish his wages, and it won’t be just $50/month this time.

Feels like this dude is gonna be living in a fed ex box after Nintendo is done. Hell they may come for the box too.

They just wanted to make it clear that if you try and make money off old nintendo games, in any way, they will crush you.

Your forgetting the part that he charged for access the site and hosted switch games that are still available. Honestly If it wasn’t for those two things then I think he could of been in the clear.

I think that’s the point; they were either intending on having to file for a permanent injunction in the first place, or they intended to garnish his income by $50/mo for the remainder of his life for daring to distribute probably no longer available games that Nintendo’s not making money off of anyway.

So like im trying do the math here. Im being upfront when I say im not good at math and im even using a calculator and I keep coming up with it taking an estimated 3500 years to pay this off if his paying $50 a month.

Nintendo doesn’t care at all about the money. They just wanted to make it clear that if you try and make money off old nintendo games, in any way, they will crush you.
