I worked one summer at a small regional newspaper doing ad design and page layout work, and we had one woman whose only job was to come in on the morning of layout and go over every single article that was due to be published to look for grammatical and spelling errors as the copy editor.

That might be at least in part because those people are automatically removed from the greys because they have an established history of posts that the authors or moderators have considered worth promoting.
