Thorin,
The corner of a penny?
Dear Lifehacker,
With all the new changes to T-Mobile and AT&T's plans I can't really tell how much the plans really…
My Nexus 4 arrives in two days and I cannot wait, not only for the phone but also not being tied to a two-year contract. I am done waiting for the carriers to decide when and if they push out updates. I suffered through two years on a crappy Samsung Droid Charge.
I am going to second (third? fourth?) what everyone else said. If you want to go that route, community college followed by transferring to a state school (or whatever) is a great way to save a LOT of money. And, if you do well in your first two years, colleges can be pretty generous with grants and merit scholarships…
Whether it's worth it really depends on what degree you get and whether you work during school. Obviously, you should research the job market before taking out loans for a degree. It's well known that liberal arts degrees are worthless, but it's less well known that law and nursing degrees usually aren't worthwhile…
As long as you treat it like a proper investment and make sure it has a good return on your money while working hard at college then its going to be a sound decision. Looking at how much a Dentist or Doctor earns compared to the cost of their qualification it seems like small beer, other qualifications such as Arts…
I'm with you. While I went to community college for a few semesters off and on, I never came close to graduating for the exact same reasons you mentioned. I'm now 37, self-employed and loving my life with my wife and four children. It should also be noted that with the birth of our first child nine years ago, my wife…
There are plenty of decent schools in the US that don't cost $30,000 per year. Just FYI. Not going to college because you don't think you can afford it is, in this day and age, a dead end road. Look into grant programs in addition to loans - there are still many out there. Essay contests, public speaking, etc. …
Another android fanboy here (I do own iPad 4), the only thing android manufacturers cannot one-up Apple in is build quality. Although the HTC one has come very close. The features are all Google who make android.
You're right. The cost of school when compared to its value in the market place is becoming a bad bet for many. For things like web development you may be able to acquire skills on your own without having to get a college degree. Have you looked in to the many free online programs that are out there these days? A lot…
Yeah, NFC sounds pretty neat, and I think employed well it could be *really* cool in the future.
Haha :) Isn't that the best source, though?
Backup backup backup.
Super babies, but yes...they are among us.
Yes, it sucks, but let's not pretend this is the result of any single president or human being on the planet. No one person or administration has control over the economy. Not Obama, not Bush, not anyone before them. This is about how credit bureaus choose to operate. It's not exactly logical, but they do it…
It's going to be really interesting when my generation (the one that started using Facebook in their teens) starts running for public office. All of this stuff is going to be accessible, and everyone's going to have embarrassing and incriminating stuff out there. What's going to happen? Are the political scandals du…
Warning: Flame war topic incoming. I'll go first.
Used this app for 5 minutes, Fell in love. I'd suggest it to anyone who has experience programming as well, the design of "flows" are super familiar and easy to manipulate. Thanks again Lifehacker!
