I may be wrong, but wasn't there an issue with TRIM not being enabled for the storage? And that's why it got so laggy and slow?
I know what you're talking about with the lag. My 2012 Nexus 7 was never the same after that first update and I tried a bunch of things to fix it. I've since sold it and purchased the 2013…

I have a hard time actually *reading* ebooks. I just stop reading and never finish them which is sad to me because I used to read a lot when I was younger. I like to think I've replaced traditional book reading with reading blogs and articles online. I've noticed I'm more likely to finish a physical book though.
