Tangentially related to comics!
I really enjoyed Secret Wars. Purely the main Hickman/Ribic mini-series though.
He was apparently not super pleased with Bendis about that. Sounded like they were kind of chilly with each other going back to Avengers vs. X-men.
Gurihiru's art is really great. Looking forward to that series on Unlimited almost entirely for the art.
Well, with Congress out on recess as of today, my work is blessedly reduced to 8 hour days rather than 9, which makes more difference than one could possibly imagine. Here's to a sweaty, hot, humid D.C. summer.
Sadly, my store was shorted Vision this week, so it was all Rebirth for me.
Love it. I bought the deluxe hardcover on faith, which I think is the first three volumes, and it really builds. And Matteo Scalera is an all-star who isn't discussed enough.
Probably my favorite Superman story. I know many say All-Star Superman, but for me, Secret Identity is just the most… human.
I've had the opposite reaction. If anything, many (though not all) of the books and characters feel reinvigorated. Like the creators felt the shackles loosen a bit.
The return of Midnighter from Steve Orlando was a nice surprise. I can't remember if that was announced this week or last…
I'm eager for this Superman to really interact and rebuild those relationships with the other members of the Justice League that were so key to the old DCU. I expect we'll see some of that in the upcoming Trinity book, but I don't know how much I trust Manapul's talent as a writer, even while I love his art.
That East of West deluxe edition is wonderful. Image's deluxe editions as a rule are pretty nicely put together. Remender and Scalera's Black Science deluxe is just gorgeous.
Caught up on this week and last. Rebirth stuff continues to be more good than not.
There are totally GoT comics. Just… no one reads those. Also they're by a tiny publisher I think.
Unsurprisingly, Batman.
Plenty of Rebirth. My favorites continue to be Green Arrow and Detective Comics.
Well said. I (like many of us) would make a poor critic. Ah well.
Huh. The critic-viewer divide on this episode (while probably not as big as it appears) is really weird.
If I have one disappointment with Nicola Scott and Rucka on Wonder Woman, it's that it's delaying the release of more Black Magick.
