That's great news! Is it just coming to stores or can we expect to see it on Comixology as well? (Apologies if you've discussed this before and I missed it.)
Besides Ant-man, I had a fairly big week.
I love Spencer's Ant-man. While it does borrow a few elements of the dynamics that made the movie work, it's really more reminiscent of his superlative Superior Foes run. Spencer really gets the banality of evil and uses it to humorous effect in a way few comics manage.
American Vampire is still good! I just wish it published with anywhere near the frequency it used to.
Very cool. Let us know if/when you can say more!
"Are they just handing costumes out in cereal boxes now?" - Classic Seeley.
Picked up Tokyo Ghost #1 on the one-month price-drop delay. It didn't blow my socks off the way it did for some people, though I love that Sean Murphy/Matt Hollingsworth art.
I do love that Sean Murphy art. I can't disagree that the first half is much better than the second, but that first half is really good.
I really haven't. I'm interested in some of the new wave of Vertigo they're pushing, though. That's just starting, but I think it has some promise.
It's hard not to recommend the complete run of Preacher for less than $30 US. Vertigo has a number of great series, but as you mentioned, many are likely available at your local library.
Remender's Cap was ok, but took a hard right turn from Brubaker's noir-inspired Cap to Remender's favorite genre: weird sci-fi. And that's just not a genre that Cap fit too well, I think.
So I almost always trade-wait for Image (they make some fantastic deluxe hardcovers), but I hold a special place in my heart for Vaughn and Chiang.
Yeah, I both pretty much agree with Busiek and think it's just not great in general.
Look for Kurt Busiek's defense of Miller's artistic intent.
I was befuddled by the defensive takes from a lot of comic artists. I know Miller did some really groundbreaking stuff, but…
I like some of Valiant (Bloodshot Reborn is probably Lemire's best book right now), but it all seems very scattershot as they try to build this cohesive universe. Venditti is also doing his best work on X-O Manowar, certainly, compared to Green Lantern at the moment.
I found B&R:E to be a lot of fun, in that it's essentially Robin: Eternal, and after the hot mess that was Batman: Eternal, what I came out of it wanting the most was a focus on the younger Bat characters written by Tynion, who I think has a solid grasp of their voices. Certainly, it's the best Tim Drake stuff in the…
Big week for me, and I picked up a couple things on a whim. Mostly because it's been a long week and I felt I deserved a few extra things….
CREPUSCULAR!
