Accident was in July, so two months prior is May.
They’re asking an awful lot for a mechanic to test drive a car during inspection when the shop will often only charge $10 - $25 in Vermont. This is also creating a very slippery slope for the liability a mechanic is assuming by inspecting a car. Will less mechanics offer state inspections now out of the fear of being…
In addition to what you listed, I figure the owner would have kept trying different mechanics until one finally gave him a sticker.
Note that they drove 400 miles AFTER the inspection. 400 miles is a lot of driving and if it was inspected before winter I am willing to venture that the brakes were working properly at the time of inspection. As some one driving a 5 door yellow Saab Viggen with a check engine light on from a faulty IDM I am right there with you. My Saab make me feel happy every time I see it in my driveway, that feeling makes the repair bills all worth it.
I was going to say any good condition air cooled 911s but your comment about the saabs are right. You changed my view and appreciation of saabs. What an epiphany!
Yup 100%
