I rode my brothers' W650 to work this morning as I am currently being a "caretaker" for this machine. Yes, much newer and not quite the same as your R, I get the same feeling on this bike as you your R. Very different machine vs my regular commuter of a 2012 DL650.

This is why I have snow tires.. Some people still argue with me that they can go in snow better than I can just because they have 4x4.. Experience tells me no.
