I'm choosing the Galaxy Nexus only because it is a pure google device. I've had the Droid X2 since its release, and I cannot stand the locked bootloader holding the device back. Needless to say, I'm not planning on buying another bootloader locked Motorola phone (or any other locked phone).

VOTE: Arch Linux

I got a used 5850 so that I could crossfire with my old 5850. It ran the beta on Ultra with no serious frame drops. So I spent about $180 to play the game at its best settings.

I enjoy using GO Launcher EX. I've tried ADW EX and Launcher Pro, but both of their developers have fallen behind with updates. GO Launcher has a great app launcher/ task manager that allows apps to be uninstalled like iOS (long press).

VOTE: Zune Pass

The timing of this article seems a bit unfortunate. According to @AskPayPal, the PayPal website is experiencing issues, and people, including me, are unable to log in.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure how I missed the article on SD cards. Anyways, I am rooted, but have enough storage on my phone that I don't use Apps2SD. The faster speed would mainly be for music and videos. After reading the article, I think I'll stick with my current card; the faster file transfers of

For the people with Android phones:

In terms of a price to performance ratio, buying a new Windows notebook would be a much better idea than buying a new Macbook. However, the money saved can easily be offset by having to repurchase the software you used on your Mac if the companies do not allow you to switch. For web design and browsing, the OS won't

For people interested in seeing if SetCPU works on their phone, the developer provides the program for free to registered members of XDA developers to try. If any Android user doesn't already have an XDA account, this is another reason to register. Just remember to buy it if it works, to support the developer.

Just finished using it, and it works great. Always nice to find a lesser-known program that serves a useful purpose. The program handled all ISO files I tried.

VOTE: Xbox 360 with Windows Media Center, Windows Media Player, or Zune (the best solution).

@JuryDuty: I recommend the 360; as a 16 y/o I play 360 much more, as do all my friends. The parental controls are (IMHO) much better than they Wii's, and a 360 would offer many more options as they grow up. My dad loves to play Halo: Reach with us, he could care less about the Wii games.

@nka: You could also try having another program on the school computer run files for you. For example, dragging the StartPortableApps.exe into an IE window will ask you to run or save it, running it will be the same as double clicking it from the root of a USB drive. This approach seems similar to the batch file

@pinecone99: I'll be driving part of it, but only one or two hours a day.

Next Friday, I'm going on a multiple-day car ride from Alabama to Wyoming. The car has an AC outlet built in, so I always bring my Wii (Xbox is too power-hungry), but I've began to wonder if Lifehacker readers know of any great methods of staying entertained in a car besides video games. Is there anything that will

I've found that the regular and high profile settings work for the iPad, and look great on a computer as well. However, I've only tried it with SD content, so it may not work as well with HD things. The downside is that the standard settings are not compatible with the Zune HD.

@cd-eatin: If you have a Windows 7 computer hooked up to the router with a cable, and it has a wireless card, you could try Connectify. It works great on my DS.
