Actually he refers to this as a “quick child” so it’s possible this was also after the quickening. So basically this was likely just agreeing with present abortion law- the quickening was usually after the 1st trimester. They didn’t have reliable enough pregnancy tests to be guessing the first 6 weeks or any such…
