I’m pretty sure home is much more dangerous for kids than school, in terms of rates of death and injury (although I don’t have the data handy). From the CDC, only 2% of all homicides of school-aged children occur at school or on the way to and from: https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/youthviolence/schoolviolence/SA

If it were trained on badly written posts it would.

I was so happy when Markey won....

What is this weird obsession they have with socio-emotional learning? Is executive function really that controversial? I mean, the GOP’s embrace of racism and homophobia is wrong in so many ways, but SEL doesn’t seem like something that would get people upset.

You shared your opinion and people told you it was stupid. Nobody told you to be silent. Reading comprehension is a skill worth cultivating.

Comparing a person to a bruised banana is pretty shitty. But an adult should be capable of recognizing that different people like different things, even if they themselves don’t.

God, what a whiny little crybaby. Imagine being an asshole to someone and then complaining when people told you to fuck off.

Maybe, or maybe she’s only doing it because the GOP kicked her out.

Yeah, Obama was also shitty towards immigrants. What exactly is the relevance?

I’m going to put in my regular plug for women’s hockey and football. I live in New England, and our teams (the Pride and the Renegades) are awesome. The games are a blast and much more affordable than the men’s.

Baby formula should go to Americans before illegals.

Those who know my heart know I would NEVER ever use someone’s race to degrade them.

If you’re a woman and not a child he’s going to swipe left.

“The worst kind of misogyny is allowing women to make decisions for themselves”.

That’s where my really, really hot girlfriend was from, back in high school. And college.

I get that, but it’s just completely afactual to frame supporters of abortion rights as some fringe minority.

What a weird stance to take. A fairly large and recently growing majority of Americans favor Roe v. Wade (https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2019/08/29/u-s-public-continues-to-favor-legal-abortion-oppose-overturning-roe-v-wade/). I don’t know where Republicans get the idea that they’re in the mainstream on the issue

I always try to push my (college) students to register and vote. I don’t push them to vote for any particular candidate or party, but getting into the habit of voting is SO important.

I had missed that, thanks.

It’s not clear how that’s relevant to Alito’s reasoning. Our government was formed from British colonies, and it’s not clear why the policies of non-British colonies, which didn’t operate under a common law framework, would be relevant precedent.
