With surface -mount electronics and programmable logic ,it's not as simple as that. Also the epoxy encapsulation and conformal-coatings make it difficult at best to get to the broken components.
I'm at 142k with mine ,with just a intake mod. I still have the stock one .

I had an S 13 , and the one thing it needed was more power. weight wise , it's only about 100 lbs .
LS's work perfectly.. trans ,clutch crossmembers all take very little work to fit. A little BFH on the tunnel and you're set.
There are ones with integrated gauges and an auto-shutoff feature. Super convienent.
A good , stout pair of scissors are far cheaper from the hardware store and many have a lifetime warrenty.

Risk vs.reward. Sometimes teams get too aggressive putting too much negative camber in the right front and a similar scenario happens. Goodyear specified 20 PSI minimum and many teams went below that also.
