I remember it differently. The market was flooded with too many consoles and lots of full price garbage games. A $7 mobile game/app scam doesn’t feel the same to me.

This also could’ve been avoided if maybe early adopters stopped acting like off-the-cuff remarks from developers of unreleased products counts as “marketing”? I mean, just a thought.
I agree, but it is sort of annoying that people are so surprised Rift is going to be $600. I expected at least a $500 tag. Compared to other monitor technology, this is a far, far more complex undertaking than making a high quality monitor, and high quality monitors can easily range into the price region of the Rift,…
Yeah stealing is stealing and stealing is bad behavior so I don’t get to play Fallout 4 before Bethesda gives me a complete edition with a nice discount. Maybe Steam-Sale next summer or something. Still It matters if we are talking economics and actual loss of profit through lost revenue. And for this there have to be…
Interesting enough, piracy also helps smaller developers (or any artist or creator for that matter).
Not really though. Most pirates likely would not have purchased the game otherwise. A game stolen is not the same as lost revenue. That is the lie that they want you to believe.
Interesting theory, but overlooks the damage that the industry does to itself in nickel and diming their product. Devalueing it and cutting it up to sell it for scraps.
...it could be—and stay with me now—that they’re vetting this “tip” of yours prior to publication. “Scoops” come in all the time; reporting on something that cannot be verified is a pretty bad look.
No, they don’t. They need to get hardcore gamers on board and then bring the cost of the tech down over time.
Impersonating a military or law enforcement officer requires the individual to act the part by giving orders or making demads reserved for military or other health and safety officals. Dressing up is fine. Dressing up and acting in a manner to confuse or mislead the public is illegal.
I still can’t believe people are getting pissed off about that poll. It was a meaningless popularity contest designed for one thing and one thing only.
MLG for the past like 5 years has only been about CoD and some Halo/Gears. They dropped all the other not so blockbuster games, missed out on DotA/LoL and therefore became irrelevant. On the Blizzard side of things they already hosted and paid for many of their own tournaments, so it’s not like they needed them.

To be fair, directors aren’t always in control of what ends up in a trailer, especially for huge blockbuster properties controlled by huge corporations. Most directors wouldn’t want you to know much at all, but it’s generally accepted that movies are a business, and attracting larger audiences with exciting footage…
As a consumer I do care about this, as I can only see digital resales being viable if the game enforces online authentication every time you start up the game. Physical games don’t need this as they use authentication with the physical medium, you need the disc to play.
Delays, delays, delays isn’t an issue with kickstarted games, but rather any piece of software. The games world is all delays, you’re just seeing how the sausage is made.
This is actually different from the DOAX3 thing in a key way. In this case, a creator confidently and thoughtfully explained what they were doing in a way that at the very least was persuasive to the audience in front of him. I’ve long maintained that many of these controversies and debates are not helped when…
Tommy, where’s your Anris Plastics Corporation branded Atomic Age Air Rifle?
Over time I’ve come to accept some form of DLC will always continue to exist in today’s digital distribution age. There’s good ways to go about it (Additional content created to extend the life of the game itself) as well as there’s bad ways (Chopping off blocks of content clearly intended for the core game/locking…
