Hilarious thing for me is that when I suggest this show to people, I tell them to not watch episode 1 first.

To everyone hailing the prop ban as a good thing and that it kept people safe: the gunman only got in because PHXCC did not peace bond prop weapons at every entrance. In other words, they weren’t initially secure in the first place then went into full lockdown mode.
In the context of this years PHXCC, the serious situation was only caused by the convention director’s negligence. Our con has problems every year and it is more of a jab at the convention director than the potential threat that occurred. Maybe the embarrassment and jokes will make PHXCC to get their shit together.

This is exactly the point my wife made as well. If he was threatening to shoot a young black male the police would take a day off. Also the threat of violence towards women is not taken as seriously as this shit was, including at this con.
I saw a guy with actual metal claws just today. Hilariously enough, in the program guide for this years PHXCC on page 97 it has a Wolverine cosplay and there is no clear peace bonding designation. It is their own fault this bullshit happened and now we all have to have a propless con because of it.
My wife and I were sitting in the hall where this guy was arrested and escorted out of. I’ve seen a lot of people defending the decision to outright ban props for the remainder of the con and just want to make clear to everyone the conditions that made this even possible in the first place.
