I will no longer make fun of the line “Does she go down on your in a theatre.” I had always assumed this was an absolutely ridiculous thing to do because 1) theatre tickets cost money and 2) there plenty of time for that after the show. I stand corrected.

PG means “Parental Guidance”. Kids seeing Beetlejuice might have questions, thus the guidance.

she’s someone all the characters keep talking about before their grand entrance”

This highlights why the simplistic rating system based on age is not all that useful. It’s more important to include a couple of keywords that indicate why the film received a certain rating. Did something get an R for a couple of extra F-bombs or a graphic rape scene? Come to think of it, it’s insane that both of

You have to consider the purpose of the rating system in the context of how movies were seen when the rating system was created in 1968. Back then, movies were seen in theaters. Any movie that eventually turned up on TV was going to cut to the equivalent of a G rating or shown late at night. There was no cable, no

I hope the Guillermo frogs stick around like the Nadja doll (and also that one can purchase plush versions).

That’s true for a fair number of the movies here, and graduating from high school and plans for after were central themes in the movie.

At the top.

It was a recent version on audible produced as a tie-in for the 2023 movie (coming out next month I guess). There is a new introduction by Stephen King talking about what lead him to write Salem’s Lot. It was a GREAT listen. I had forgotten how freakin’ good the book is. It was also interesting to listen to it just a

I’m going on the record as saying that the audiobook I mention below is my favorite Dracula adaptation ... ever ... in any medium. It’s better than reading it because the story works so well when there is a different actor doing each of the parts. It keeps their voices separate in a way that just reading them dow not.

Good for a long car ride (or multiple short ones). I listened to Dracula, Salem’s Lot, No One Goes Alone, and several more this summer on various road trips.

I just listened to an excellent audio book adaptation of Dracula (Alan Cumming, Tim Curry, etc.). This chapter was really compelling, but strong recommend for the whole thing.

Love this one!

I do not understand why people like this movie so much. Dracula is not a freakin’ love story (at least not as far as the Count is concerned). Also, justice for Jonathan. No adaptation has ever given him the due he deserves based on his role in the book.

Trailer looks good. I saw it last week and immediately thought “Oh, Sweeney Todd. I’m down with that.”

It’s, um, not a very accurate map, and best I can tell there are only 8 dashes. The blue blob is labeled Asia, not China.

I was about to say the same thing, but more gently. CT is swole. This is known.

And he could be completely fucking terrifying, as in Wait Until Dark.

This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

OK, I’m feeling better now. I don’t think it’s strange that this 18 year old kid is not jumping into bed with Jennifer Lawrence. I’m guessing he thinks it’s weird and suspicious that this gorgeous, much older woman is coming on to him and it makes him—an already shy, awkward kid—really uncomfortable.
