How about the BTC Lightning Network that is near-instant and apparently could handle 1 million transactions per second. And almost every other popular Layer 1 blockchain is miles faster and has more throughput than BTC.

Theoretically what? A lot of these big NFTs have real value when you hold the token, but zero value when you have a copy of the image. Try presenting the image file to get into their private discords, it won’t work because the token on the blockchain is what matters. Even if the image being pointed to breaks, the

Each item doesn’t need to be solved, I think you’re talking about the mining puzzle that needs to be guessed to be given the right to write the next block. And it’s more like 3 minutes than 3 days (for the slower ones)

The receipt is the point, not the image. The receipt gets you resale value, passive income, membership to private communities, etc. If anything, people copying the image alone and sharing it is free advertising for the NFT holder.

Or you could handle it automatically with an NFT smart contract

I’m sure the Bored Ape millionaires are furious about all the free advertising

Kotaku writers know they will be ostracized from their coworkers if they say anything positive about crypto or NFTs

Actually, some NFTs like Art Blocks are fully on-chain, so the collectible is included in the certificate.

It is more traceable for most cryptocurrencies, but that point is ignored because people want to claim it’s perfect for money laundering.

Damn I knew I should have gotten a CRO Ruby card back in the summer.

Yeah the world is a crazy place. Personally I get triggered when I see someone with a Star Wars t-shirt. You’re paying extra for a t-shirt that might not even be comfortable just so you can display an ad for a shitty movie on it? Don’t they understand how advertising works? You should be getting paid, not paying.

Yeah most are shit but there’s lots of NFTs with clear work and creativity put into them (for the record I own none of these and own barely any NFTs cause ETH fees are too pricey for me)

Gas fees don’t go toward an NFT platform or buyer/seller so it’s quite different than a cut but yeah the fees are crazy and price many people out of ETH transactions

I’ve not seen any crypto-bros being as disrespectful as anti-crypto folks, on twitter or elsewhere. There is a lot of anger and “taking it personally” towards crypto. “the way crypto-bros tend to treat people that push back against their hogwash” - there certainly is a lot of crypto hogwash, but no vitriol from

I read both these articles and they are emotional rants from an extremely angry person.

I think it’s valuable to look at comments outside of a pro-crypto echo chamber. I think he is hoping to find some intelligent discussion that could further his understanding of NFTs/crypto and the issues it does have, including perception/awareness of it. Unfortunately all the detractors just repeat overblown talking

I’m still trying to figure this out. My theory is that it makes it easier to stomache that they have missed out AND CONTINUE to miss out on a new technology. Much easier to just say it’s all bad for the environment than to accept that they need to re-evaluate things.

magus’ comments are full of valuable information while still dunking on the bandwagoners. Hahah just because you are too lazy to research something must mean nobody understands it I guess. I’m too lazy to explain anything so read magus’ comments instead. Go magus!

Once again, I’ve seen objective proof that anyone using the word “literal” or “literally” online is - with zero hyperbole - a complete buffoon
