You wouldn’t need to put them in 1:1. Anyone with home charging and not 50 miles from the office likely has no need to charge at work at all. For those that are apartment dwellers with no access to a L2 charger would benefit from letting it sit plugged in at the office while at work every few days (don’t have to

Well said. I see charging locations broken into 3 categories:

My dream car for a good portion of my adult life was a Toyota Land Cruiser, and a few years ago I lucky enough to buy a 2013 200-series. Loved that thing, took it on every road and between every road offroading. I thought I had hit the peak. Then, on a whim, I put a deposit on a R1s, which I picked up this summer. I

Except they weren’t even the first EV pickup. Rivian beat to that punch (late 21 vs mid 22).

Depends. Chains required generally does not apply to passenger vehicles (just need traction tires, which all-weathers would since they are M+S/3P). In the very rare case, chains required for all vehicles may appear, in which case, yes, you’ll need chains. But those are few and far between. And for the complexity of

Especially with the rise of the new “all weather” category of tires that can live happily in both snow and sun.

“Delivered” is a word they appear to have abused. These are likely non-production trucks being “delivered” to specific individuals, so as to be able to say they “delivered” prior to getting full sign-off. Hence the giant delay for the rest of the fanbois.

I had this as my PC wallpaper in high school (yes, I know how much of a nerd I am). One of my all-time favorites.

No, but they still aren’t perfect. Neighbor’s Ioniq was out of commission for 2 months due to a motor issue...said he was far from the only victim.

FB Marketplace is definitely the wild wild west, but a small bit of due diligence goes a long way:

Purely anecdotal, but our 2021 Tesla Model 3 LR appears to have only dropped ~20% from original purchase price ($50k), which seems to be roughly similar to most mid-sized sedans from MY2021.

If you’re in a place that does get below-freezing temps and snow, but maybe not enough to justify dedicated winters, I would suggest a newer category called all-weather tires (these category names are utter shit, I know). AW tires are 3-peak rated, so they perform better than an all-season in the snow and ice, but

Conversely, our 2017 XC90 T8 was riddled with squeaks, battery issues, and random screen reboots. I loved driving the car (still the comfiest seats and best sound system of any car I’ve owned), but it was in for warranty work every other month.

This. The problem with speeding 99% of the time is poor road design that actually encourages faster speeds than the posted limit. What we need are fewer and narrower lanes, among other design elements to create friction to discourage drivers from going too fast. Granted, the dingleberry in the article above is going

It’s enforced after the fact. If you get in a wreck or need to be towed/extracted because of adverse weather, they absolutely will slap you with a fat ticket ($650 by default, but they’ll often announce higher/double fines during shit weather days). They can ticket you any other time, too ($130), but I have yet to see

All-weather tires are a game-changer here in Denver where it could 60F on Monday, and a foot of snow on Tuesday, and back to 60F on Wednesday.

It’s required* if you want to drive into the mountains in Colorado in the winter.

*either that or chains or awd/4wd...But many Coloradans know winter tires are the best of the 3.

I think a good a majority of us millennials have had to try and talk our parents (mainly dads) out of a buying a motorhome in the last 10 years or so.

I don’t think the issue is EVs as a whole. Look at Tesla and Rivian, who are both doing just fine in terms of production and sales.

As a Rivian owner, I would have to agree. Unlike my Tesla, which has very erratic behaviors when in cruise control, the Rivian drives much more predictably and generally doesn’t even allow CC on city streets. I’m just a guy behind a keyboard, but my opinion is this was simply driver error with a very powerful car.
