With a market so heavily oversaturated with FPS games, is it a surprise to you that some people are just kinda tired of the standard FPS design? At what point is it normal for someone to start wishing they would do something new?

I completely agree with you! The game streaming, live downloads of games from the store, and all of the enhanced social features just sound freaking amazing. I honestly think those are the best aspects of the PS4 that they were able to show in last night's presentation, even above the games themselves.
Hehe. "Okay."
I love that whenever someone claims that graphics don't have much more room for improvement before we reach photo-realism, someone else undoubtedly will accuse them of having "no imagination."
Bingo!
Man, why are you wasting my time with those newfangled 8-bit systems like the NES? Give me Killzone on a Colecovision. THAT'S ALL YOU NEED.
Very true. From everything they gave on the tech side of things, the PS4 sounds MUCH easier to program for than the PS3. I'm excited to see what developers can pull off with it once they get comfortable with the new architecture.
Actually, this isn't like judging a book by it's cover. That would be if they just showed the cover art for the game and I based my statement on that. This is more like having someone read a full chapter of a book to you, and you going "Wait... I feel like I've heard this all before." Reading that chapter myself later…
Yeah, I really think it's just a matter of semantics. It seems to be split either between new graphical hardware, or new input mechanics. Changing how the game looks or how the game plays. Most folks seem to lean one way or the other in their own "next-gen" definition.
Did you watch the video? Of the supposed in-game gameplay footage? The one that looks pretty much identical gameplay-wise to the majority of FPS games that are currently on the market?
Ah yeah, Knack looked pretty awesome, too. I forgot about that one.
Did I say I did?
This is what "next-gen" seems to mean nowadays: A slight bump in graphics, same old gameplay.
Still no Zen Pinball release for the Wii U. I am sad.
I fail to understand how THIS is not the headline right now.
"... and in keeping with the latest industry trends, it requires an active and stable 4G connection to enable the gaming functionality..."
"And now, loyal fans, we here at Sony are proud to reveal..... the PS4G!
This game is directly based on actual battles from throughout Japanese history.
