I feel like the notifications have been tweaked recently. Before, I could set a list of people I wanted to be notified should they post anything. Now, all I get in notifications is a list of events in my vicinity, memes reposted by those close friends and posts in Groups I am a member of.

I kind of feel like that worked on Paris Hilton.  While she is not gone entirely, she was everywhere at one point and now, no one cares about her.  It just feels like it is taking MUCH longer to get to that point with these folks.
