Not that I hold any real love for Kinja, but this has pretty much always been the way. Even before Kotaku implemented Kinja, the most inflammatory and trollish comments were the one that got the "featured discussion" spot.
Fine by me. I won't be buying a ps4 to play ps3 games. Just like I didn't buy a ps3 to play ps2 games. Or a 360 to play regular xbox games. We had , what , one generation where this was standard? What's the big deal? The Super Nintendo wasn't capable of playing NES games, and yet that's regarded as one of the greatest…
This makes the most sense to me.
Lawyers, probably. Sure Nintendo could go after PETA, but PETA has high priced lawyers that can withstand dragging ninty through a court case. It's likely these guys don't.
Never played a Fire Emblem game, so would a fan tell me how this works out? Will he eventually run out of party members and have to go through by himself? Or does it have a option like Disgea 4 had where you can create new party members? Or are there just that many unique party members scattered throughout the game?
He has a point though. Hasbro knows they can't possibly take to court every single person posting pony porn online. Even if they won, new pony porn will just pop up in its place in about 10 seconds. And they'd go absolutely broke trying.
Whatever makes you feel better, my friend. I'm just looking at this realistically. Very few internet petitions have ever made a difference in what they were trying to do. I just don't see this being one of the few exceptions that buck the odds.
The difference in scope is exactly why this was a better target for a C&D. Hasbro can't possibly go after every person putting the hundreds of thousands of pony porn pictures up. They'd drive themselves out of business, and even if they somehow magically erased all the pony porn from the internet, it would all be…
No, there really isn't. This petition, like most if not all internet petitions, is absolutely useless.
I'm only surprised it took this long. You bronies had to know this was coming.
I love io9. And I agree, things over there seem to be a bit calmer. It's all doom and gloom here these days.
So his entire argument boils down to "I don't like these types of games, therefore, they shouldn't exist"? That seems a bit selfish to me. I don't like FPS games, but I would never deny them to my friends who do. And on the other side of the coin, no one I know will be found playing Journey, but I doubt any of them…
I'm kind of shocked GTA5 is even on the list. I wasn't aware the series even had something resembling a following in Japan.
" but isn't that why you buy a certain console, for their exclusive titles? "
Nope, don't care one iota. Actually, I love this kind of stuff.
You know what? You're right. I've been arguing with with angry Glee fans all morning on the Cracked article covering this topic, and I may have jumped the gun a bit and came out swinging. I apologize.
You're a moron. Coulton did get permission to use the song, and goes even one step further. He currently has a cover of a cover of a cover version up for sell, and all money made from it is currently going to MAL.
